Water Mist Systems
Water mist fire suppression systems disperse fine water droplets to form a mist which suppresses fire by cooling the flame and surrounding gases by evaporation, by displacing oxygen using evaporation and by attenuating radiant heat. The systems are water-efficient, offer simple recharge, cause little water damage and are environmentally safe.
Common Applications:
- Mission-critical facilities
- Total flood machinery spaces
- Local high-risk applications
- Accommodation areas
- Other machinery spaces
- Gas turbine enclosures
- Bilges
- Vehicle decks
Benefits:
- Immediate activation
- No toxicity
- Minimal water damage
- Efficient
There are three different types of water mist systems: GPU, MAU and SPU.
- GPU – This gas pump unit is a self-contained water mist fire suppression unit. It does not need an external power source for operation.
- MAU – The machinery space accumulator unit is designed to protect machinery spaces from hazards that can catch fire due to flammable liquids or lubricants.
- SPU – Sprinkler pump units provide continuous operation. They use water tanks or an external supply of water to prolong protection using water mist systems.
