Water Mist System Maintenance and Testing

All of the services ASSI performs are in accordance with the latest NFPA standards.

GENERAL INSPECTION SCOPE

Water Mist Systems: NFPA 25, NFPA 750

Annual Inspection and Test (by ASSI)

  • Conduct monthly inspection and test, plus
  • Lubricate mechanical moving parts (as required)
  • Inspect and operate emergency manual starting
  • Test fire-pump assembly under flowing conditions
  • Discharge via bypass flow meter
  • Run pump for a minimum of 10 minutes
  • Record the electric motor voltage and current
  • Record the pump speed in rpm
  • Record pump suction and discharge pressures and pump discharge flow concurrently
  • Change out water filter as necessary
  • Change pump oil every 2 years or 200 hours
  • Verify all supervisory signals are operating properly at the Water Mist Control Panel
  • Simulate the heat detector operation to verify proper initiation of the SPU Pump
  • Check Annunciator Display in Control House for proper operation

Recommended Periodic Owner Inspections for a System

Weekly Inspection (by owner)

  • Visually inspect pump and its fittings for water or air leakage.
  • Check municipal water-supply connection

Monthly Inspection (by owner)

  • Check water-mist tubing system for evidence of leakage
  • Check water-mist-tubing hangers for mechanical tightness
  • Check spray heads for unobstructed discharge
